Budget airline FlyBe is to begin a new morning service between Kajaani and Helsinki. The new service makes the route one of Flybe’s busiest, with four flights per day.
The company says it responded to feedback from passengers and adjusted timetables accordingly. The new morning service starts up on 14 January, with the rest of the timetable remaining unchanged.
Fred Kochak, Flybe’s director of commercial, said that the company wanted to offer Kainuu’s business community vital links to the outside world.
The new morning service runs Monday to Thursday, landing in Kajaani at 9.45 and leaving again for Helsinki at 10.10.
The border checkpoints were closed at the end of last month for a period of two weeks, which comes to an end next Wednesday night.
Finland's copyright council found that Journalisti magazine editor Maria Pettersson had quoted passages from scientific articles in her book in "breach of good practice".
The industrial action is planned for Thursday 14 December, and could see train and tram services disrupted across the country.
