The opposition Centre party is now the best-supported party in Finland, according to a new Yle poll. The Centre leapfrogged Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen’s National Coalition in the new figures, which show a lead that is still within the margin of error.

Yle’s new poll shows the Centre gained 1.1 percentage points on the last Yle poll in March. They are now the best-supported party, with 19.4 percent backing.

The National Coalition was slightly behind on 19.2 percent, down 0.6 percentage points on the figure recorded in March. The Social Democrats are down 1.8 percentage points compared with March, with 16.2 percent backing.

The Finns party appears to be the third force in Finnish politics with 18.6 percent of those surveyed backing Timo Soini’s populists.

After the Centre, the Left Alliance rose the most this month, with support up 0.5 percentage points at 9.0 percent. Other parties' support remained stable.
