Accident suspends cross-border traffic at Nuijamaa

The Russian RIA Novosti news agency reported Saturday that at least 10 people were killed in a collision between a van and a timber transport vehicle in Russia, close to the Nuijamaa border crossing point. Cross-border traffic at Nuijamaa has been suspended.

According to Finland's south-eastern Border Guard, there was a serious accident on the road between Vyborg and Nuijamaa at around 8:30 AM on Saturday.

The RIA Novosti news agency reported a collision between a van and a timber transport vehicle left at least 10 dead and three injured. All were Russian citizens.

Traffic from Finland into Russia at Nuijamaa has been temporarily suspended and the Border Guard is advising motorists headed to Russia to use the border-crossing points at either Imatra or Vaalimaa.
