Clowning around in Helsinki

If you're out and about in the Finnish capital this weekend, don't be surprised if you come across a band of clowns on the streets. They're part of the city's first international clowning conference - a seminar for performers who work to bring comic relief to disadvantaged children all around the world.

Performers from around the world are in Helsinki this weekend for the first official Nordic meeting of clowns working in social circus. The First Enclownter seminar takes place November 7 to 9 with a fundraising gala performance on Saturday night that donates all profits to Sirkus Magenta’s activities with Helsinki Deaconess Institute’s Vamos project for youth at risk.
