Finnair said Tuesday that if the strike does take place it will be forced to cancel the majority of flights next Tuesday and Wednesday, as well as some departures on Monday. The airline said that it will offer passengers the option to reschedule their flights.
The two-day industrial action would affect baggage as well as pre-flight services for several hours and wreak havoc on the travel plans of thousands of passengers, Finnair added.
The national flag carrier also stressed that it is not involved in the dispute fueling the strike and pointed out that the the industrial action is related to work contracts by ground services provider Airpro.
Finnair said that it would provide updates about possible flight cancellations via Twitter and its website and would also communicate directly with passengers.
It urged passengers to ensure that mobile phone numbers and other contact information are up to date.
