Helsinki bustles with activity on Saturday as three large events in the Finnish capital signal the start of the summer season.
The eighth annual Arabia Street Festival takes over Hämeentie in the Arabia neighbourhood with art, recycling and street food. This year's theme is mural painting, with opportunities for the public -- up to 20,000 people are expected to attend the festival -- to create their own paintings.
Saturday is also Restaurant Day, the Finnish concept that has gone global and allows anyone to be a restaurateur for a day. More than 1,000 pop-up restaurants will be open throughout Finland, with hundreds of them in Helsinki.
In the afternoon, the Helsinki City Run, a half marathon, starts up at 3 pm with 15,000 runners expected. The route winds through Töölö, Kaisaniemi to Alppipuisto Park and onto Pikku Huopalahti before returning to Töölö.
Changes in public transit schedules owing to the City Run and the Street Festival can be found on the Helsinki Region Transport site.
