The most notable signs of the terrorism response exercise in Helsinki and Rovaniemi may be a large number of emergency vehicles and a military presence on the streets of those two cities.

According to the Ministry of the Interior, police, Helsinki Emergency Services, the Border Guard and Defence Forces units, as well as healthcare personnel are all taking part in the exercise.

An announcement by the Interior Ministry says that the exercise is aimed at testing response capabilities to a major, serious terrorist attack, as well as cooperation and communications among various authorities. This also includes a test of the cabinet's operations under emergency conditions.

No details of the exercise have been made available.
