Yle News is looking for new freelancers to come and work in our unit. Our journalists cover a diverse range of topics across online and social platforms as well as radio. A journalistic nose for news is essential, as are good Finnish skills and the ability to write concise, well-constructed and elegant news stories in English.
Being comfortable in front of a camera or behind the lens is an advantage, but the most important thing is an eye for a good story and the ability to tell it. Our recruitment process involves a writing test, in which you'll fashion English language news items from Finnish source material against a time limit.
The job is freelance and the pay is in accordance with Yle's collective union agreements. Please send your application to yle.news@yle.fi with 'Job Application' as the header.
Yle News covers news from Finland in English online, on social media and on the radio. Across all channels our content reaches more than 200,000 people each week.
This application round ends on 10 June, but we will accept open applications after that date too. Just make sure the header field is 'Job Application'.
