Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto (Green) tops Ilta-Sanomat's poll as the most likely winner of Finland's next presidential election.

Nearly half of respondents—48 percent—said they would consider voting for Haavisto in 2024, when Finland chooses a president for the next six years.

Yle's presidential poll last month also found the most support for Haavisto, who was the most popular choice, particularly among women and young adults.

The foreign minister has been a media staple over the past year since Russia invaded Ukraine and Finland applied for Nato membership.

Bank of Finland governor Olli Rehn and the Director of the Finnish Institute of International Affairs Mika Aaltola occupied second and third place in the IS poll.

Survey participants were shown a list of 30 names and asked to list their top choice to be the country's next president.

The survey, which reached some 1,000 people, was carried out by pollster Taloustutkimus at the end of january. The margin of error was around three percentage points both ways.
