The Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI) has issued warnings of "poor" or "very poor" driving conditions for northern and central areas of Finland on Saturday.

A low pressure front has brought snow, sleet and rain showers to many parts of the country, making the roads very slippery. Heavy snowfall could also affect visibility, with some areas expected to see up to 15 cm of fresh snow on Saturday.

The agency also issued warnings of strong winds for all coastal and sea areas with the exception of areas in the far north.

The weather is however set to improve by Sunday, according to Yle's weather forecast, with some areas expected to see temperature readings of up to five degrees Celsius.
