The investigation into the killing of a postal worker in the Myyrmäki district of Vantaa last November has been passed to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), commercial broadcaster MTV has reported.

The young woman was the victim of a brutal assault in the early hours of Thursday 18 November while she was delivering newspapers, and died from her injuries two days later in hospital.

The NBI has been assisting in the case for some time, but until now the investigation into the killing has been the responsibility of the East Uusimaa police department.

Two people have so far been detained on suspicion of committing the murder, but police say neither of them is now a suspect.

A 23-year-old man was detained by police in the days after the killing, but he was released one week later as police said the chances of his involvement were "minimal".

A second suspect turned himself in to police last December and confessed that he had carried out the violent crime, but he was released soon afterwards as investigating officers found nothing else to link him to the case.
