President Sauli Niinistö approved the latest defence aid shipment for Ukraine on Thursday, making it Finland's 16th package for the country so far.

This time the delivery includes anti-aircraft weaponry and ammunition at an estimated cost of 109 million euros.

"Finland continues to support Ukraine in cooperation with our international partners. The total value of Finland's defence equipment aid packages for Ukraine now amounts to 1.1 billion euros," said Defence Minister Antti Kaikkonen (Cen) in a government release.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky tweeted his thanks to the Finnish government, suggesting that the contents of the latest shipment were agreed during his recent visit to Helsinki.

In line with its previous policy aiming to ensure the safe delivery of aid shipments to Ukraine, the government is not disclosing any details regarding the content, delivery method, or schedule of the assistance.

The most recent package has taken into account both the needs of Ukraine as well as the current resources of the Finnish Defense Forces, according to the government.
