Tampere-based student canteen and restaurant chain Juvenes has announced it will stop offering PepsiCo products due to the soft drink company continuing its operations in Russia.

Earlier this month Ukraine's anti-corruption agency accused the Finnish beverage firm Hartwall, the national distributor of PepsiCo products, of condoning Russia's war of aggression due to its continuing operations in Russia.

Juvenes is a student union-owned firm that operates 50 canteens, restaurants and cafes in 10 cities across Finland. The company was founded in 1959. The chain said it plans to replace the removed PepsiCo products with similar ones from Finnish beverage firm Olvi.

In a press release, the chain's development manager, Nina Lyytinen, said the firm wants to make a difference.

"Juvenes wants the ability to make our actions influence socially important issues. We've received a lot of positive feedback and support from customers about our decision," Lyytinen said.
