Left Alliance chair Li Andersson has carried out her leadership duties better than any of the country's other political party leaders, suggests a poll by the Uutissuomalainen news group.
One quarter of respondents to the poll selected Andersson as the most competent party leader, placing her well ahead of second placed Petteri Orpo, Finland's current prime minister and chair of the National Coalition Party.
Orpo was named by 11 percent of respondents as the most competent party leader.
In third place, on 8 percent, was Finns Party leader and Finance Minister Riikka Purra.
Another government minister, Anna-Maja Henriksson of the Swedish People's Party, polled last with just one percent.
Fully one third of respondents, however, said they could not decide which party leader had been the most successful in carrying out their duties.
Andersson announced last month that she is stepping down as leader of the Left Alliance to run as a candidate in the European parliamentary elections, scheduled to be held in June this year.
The poll surveyed the opinions of 1,000 people living in Finland during the month of April, and the margin of error is +/- 3.1 percent.
