Since many Nightwish fans play music themselves, what would be a greater way to show respect to the band than make an arrangement of their own of the band's biggest hits, play it and film a music video, too.
The songs chosen for the tribute video are Storytime from 2011 and Alpenglow from the latest album Endless Forms Most Beautiful. The medley arrangement was made by Dean Kopri, a musician and a music teatcher from a small town Našice in Croatia. The pre-production was organized by Brazilian Vithor Moraes, who among other things made vocal arrangements and sent audio reference to each singer, sung by Dean's spouse Kristina Minarik.
Vithor and Dean made arrangements for several instruments played by the fans who were included in the documentary making. We had musicians from 19 countries including electric guitars from Taiwan and Singapore and cuatro from Venezuela. Singers sent their sound files from seven countries. All these were collected and combined by Vithor.
In addition to singers and players, the music video needed other fans. Some of them played fantasy characters lost in the woods, some worked as dance girls and boys. All together there were 28 fans from more than 20 countries. All videos were filmed by the fans themselves according to the director's orders.
The final mixdown was made by sound designer Anssi Tamminen at Finnish Broadcastin Company YLE. The video script and directing by Harto Hänninen, editing by Juho Virolainen.
