For its gala concert on Finland’s Independence Day (6.12.), the FRSO presents a rare work, the piano concerto by Helvi Leiviskä premiered in 1935. The soloist on that occasion, Ernst Linko, made a number of cuts in the piano part against the composer’s wishes, and the FRSO has now restored them for this performance. The score has been admirably edited by the Savonia Musical Society and the soloist is Mirka Viitala.

Due to COVID-19 measures audiences will not be permitted to attend concerts by the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra in the Helsinki Music Centre’s Concert Hall between November 27 and December 11. The concert will be shown on Yle Areena.
