FRSO Festival: Thomas Adès - The Daring Duchess

The FRSO festival pauses for a while in the company of one of today’s leading musical thinkers, Thomas Adès. “He takes influences from everywhere – from Offenbach, from jazz, from the French Baroque, even from minimalism – and creates his own individual language within this one composition,” writes Steven Isserlis, the cellist for whom Adès wrote Lieux retrouvés. Hotel Suite is an orchestral suite based on the sensational opera Powder Her Face.
