Musica nova Helsinki Festival

Watch and listen LIVE at Yle Areena

The music of Francisco Coll is said to be characterised by “overflowing imagination and structural richness”. The dead wasps in the jam-jar in the work for string orchestra by Clara Iannotta were plucked from the realistically melancholy poem by Dorothy Molloy.
Akiko Yamane has tried, in Arcade, to create “a quality of sound that a person can feel on their skin”. Whereas her work is a comment on consumer society, Thurídur Jónsdóttir’s Flow and Fusion was inspired by lava and its solidification as music. Crowning this concert in the Musica nova Helsinki series is the premiere of an orchestral Song Cycle by Sampo Haapamäki in which the soloist is the festival’s new Artistic Director Tuuli Lindeberg.
