Christmas Celebrated Peacefully

Finland is enjoying a peaceful Christmas holiday.

No serious accidents have been reported. Emergency workers have mostly dealt with routine ambulance calls and a few small fires.

Revellers in Helsinki on Christmas Eve kept police busy into the night. Officials say Christmas Eve has become more restless in the capital region in recent years.

Around 150,000 people attended traditional church services on Christmas Day. Only services on Christmas Eve and Advent Sunday attract more churchgoers.
