According to the Chairman of the Finnish Ecumenical Council, Heikki Huttunen, many Christian groups and congregations are operating mainly in the metropolitan Helsinki area.

Most of the groups are various kinds of African churches. In Huttunen's view, the trend is a healthy and positive one for Finland. He says that the new congregations demonstrate Christianity to be a worldwide faith.
