Fines for top Ice Hockey Association personnel

The governing body of the Finnish Ice Hockey Association has fined both team manager Timo Kutila and senior coach Pasi Nurminen for their behavior during celebrations of Finland’s victory in the World Ice Hockey Championships. The news was first reported by the tabloid, Iltalehti.

The paper reported the association’s governing body had noted events did not entirely take place in accordance with the rules. For this reason, it handed down fines to the two men.

Association Chairman, Kalervo Kummola, told Iltalehti both had received “substantial fines”. However, they would continue in their current positions as the request of senior coach Jukka Jalonen.

Finnish Ice Hockey Association board member, Harry Bogomoloff, later confirmed the news to YLE Sport.

The fines stem from incidents of reported drunkenness during the home arrival of the team and the public celebrations of Finland’s victory in the World Ice Hockey Championships in May.
