Worldwide, only users in Brazil, the Netherlands and Spain are more active in using sites offering access to unauthorized downloads.
According to the IFPI, in May 35% of internet users in Finland used some sort of peer-to-peer network. In, for example, the UK and Germany that figure was around 20%.
Kauppalehti wrote that the popularity of unauthorized downloads has undermined the market for commercial services and slowed the development of legal alternatives.
