Finnish Tourists Stranded Abroad

Over one thousand Finnish package tour holidaymakers remain stranded in the Canary Islands or in other tourist destinations owing to the ongoing flying ban. According to the Finnish Consul in Las Palmas, as many as 5,000 Finns are currently vacationing in the Canaries, the majority in Gran Canaria or Tenerife. Tour operator Aurinkomatkat says around1,000 of its customers will be transferred to continental Spain either on Saturday or Sunday. Meanwhile Finnish travelers including many business personnel returning home from destinations in Central Europe arrived at the ferry harbours in Stockholm on Saturday morning.
