Medicinal Agency Moves to Kuopio
A new medicinal centre is to be set up in Kuopio from next September. The announcement was made by the Minister for Social Affairs and Health, Liisa Hyssälä on Monday.
The set up of the new body will include a transition period until the end of August, 2014. Research and development work will be first set up in Kuopio.
According to the Under Secretary of State at the Ministry, Terttu Savolainen, a decision regarding the relocation of other operations such as medicinal supervision will be made later. She added the lengthy transition period would secure the continuation of the current agency’s core activities as well as the position of employees.
Savolainen did not speculate as to how many employees would be transferred from Helsinki during the first stage.
