The sun is now shifting from the southern hemisphere to the northern one, bringing longer, lighter days to Finland.
On Tuesday the sun rose at 6.21am in Helsinki and 6.10 in Utsjoki, Finland's northernmost town.
Daylight saving time starts this Sunday, March 25. Clocks will "spring forward" one hour to take advantage of the increased hours of daylight.
Internet search Google noted the spring equinox with a floral "doodle" created by Finnish design company Marimekko.
