Kaurismäki Film Nominated for Oscar Award

Aki Kaurismäki's film 'The Man Without a Past' has been nominated for an Oscar award in the best foreign film category. This is the first time a Finnish film has ever been nominated for an Oscar.

'The Man Without a Past' has received numerous awards at film festivals around the world. It gained the Grand Prix second prize at the esteemed Cannes Film Festival. Actress Kati Outinen was also awarded at Cannes for her leading role in the film.

Other international awards for the film include that presented by the International Association of Film Critics as well as the cinematography award given by the Nordic Council.

On the domestic front, 'The Man Without A Past' also took Best Finnish Film prize at the Jussi awards.

Competing for the Best Foreign Film Oscar in Los Angeles next month will also be films from Mexico, China, Germany and the Netherlands.
