The number of people who have switched operators or are considering doing so has doubled in the past two years.
The Ministry of Transport and Communications said in a report that the main reasons for changing operators was expense and special offers for free talk time.
Switching operators became much easier and more popular this summer, when a law came into force allowing users to retain their phone numbers even if they switched operators.
At the same time, more people are willing to discontinue their land lines altogether.
The Ministry’s study also showed that the use of broadband Internet connections has increased, especially in businesses. Around a third of all Internet users are planning to move to faster connections like broadband or ADSL in the next two years.
