Helsinki shares twenty-fourth position as the best city in which to live, an international study shows.
In the overall Quality of Life Report, eight of the top 10 cities are in Western Europe. Ranking ahead of Helsinki are two other Nordic capitals, Copenhagen and Stockholm.
Helsinki comes top of the list in Europe in terms of health and sanitation. Around the globe, only Calgary in Canada and Honolulu rank better in this regard.
Helsinki also gains points for its good drinking water, effective drainage system and a lack of dangerous insects.
No other Finnish cities were included in the survey by Mercer Human Resource Consulting. Bottom of the list was the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.
