The blood service of the Finnish Red Cross is calling for donors to replenish depeleted blood stocks over the easter holiday.
Blood donation centres were opened across the country on Saturday. Blood can also be donated in several major cities including Helsinki, Tampere and Turku on Easter Monday.
The blood service wants to keep supplies at a high level to be able to deal with any major accident.
Blood platelets are needed especially to help leukemia sufferers.
Blood service centres will be open normally from Tuesday onwards.
