Putin: No Rise in Wood Tariffs
Russia is to continue its moratorium on wood export tariffs. Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin made the announcement at a meeting of forest producers in St. Petersberg on Sunday. Putin indicated that tariff increases planned for 2011 might also be postponed. Putin and Finland's Prime Minister, Matti Vanhanen met on Sunday during at the meeting which is aimed at encouraging greater co-operation and free trade in the forest sector. The Finnish forest industry says the concessions are inadequate and has reiterated calls for tariffs to be abolished completely.
