The US news service The Associated Press (AP) has reported that First Lady Melania Trump will be accompanying her husband US President Donald Trump on his visit to Finland in July.
AP says Trump and his wife will travel to the UK for a working visit on July 12, after which they will spend a private weekend in Scotland. After this, the news service reports that the couple will both travel to Helsinki, where the US President is scheduled to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin on July 16.
Earlier this week, the UK tabloid The Daily Mail also wrote that Melania Trump would be visiting Finland. The article's authors say the First Lady's office confirmed the news of her plans to the tabloid.
Finland's public broadcaster Yle contacted the office of the Finnish President, Sauli Niinistö, to confirm the news of Melania's visit, but no confirmation of this news was offered.
No state dinner at Buckingham Palace
The office of the Prime Minister of Britain Theresa May released a bulletin on Friday that said that US President Donald Trump and his wife would arrive in the UK on Thursday, July 12, following a NATO meeting in Brussels.
The first night of their stay in Britain will feature a formal dinner hosted by May in the birthplace of Winston Churchill: Blenheim Palace, near Oxford. The US President and his wife will then spend the night at the London residence of the US Ambassador to the United Kingdom.
The next day Trump and May will retreat to her official country residence in Chequers, from where the Trumps will travel to Windsor Castle to meet with Queen Elizabeth.
On Friday evening, Donald and Melania Trump will travel to Scotland, where the US President owns two golf properties, Trump Turnberry and Trump Aberdeen. From there, they will make their way to Finland together, according to the AP.
