Featuring 30 artists and 300 pieces of art, the exhibition touches on themes such as migration, environmental problems and western style urban life. Many of the contributing artists are from Africa, though the exhibition also features artists of African descent and Western artists whose work addresses African issues.

In addition to the art-works, ARS 11 will include performances, screenings and discussions held in Kiasma.

ARS 11 is the eighth ARS exhibition. This year the exhibition series is also celebrating its 50th anniversary. To mark the occasion, ARS 11 is spreading out to eight cities outside of Helsinki, extending as far as the Hallwylska museum in Stockholm.
