Bio-Petrol to Go On Sale Next Week

Sales of a more eco-friendly biofuel for vehicles will be sold for the first time in Finland next week.

The Neste filling station chain will sell the high-octane sulphur-free petrol under the name of Futura 98. The fuel can be used by all normal car motors, and costs a few cents more per litre than normal petrol.

At first the gasoline will only be available in southern and parts of central Finland, in the regions of Helsinki, Tampere, Jyväskylä, Hanko and Joensuu.

The EU wants member states to increase their use of this kind of biofuel to 5.75 percent by 2010.
