Court puts three terror suspects behind bars

Three of a quartet of terrorist suspects are now behind bars, following detention hearings at the Helsinki District Court Friday. The three Finns were arrested Tuesday on suspicion of committing murder with terrorist intent. A fourth was identified by police Thursday.

One of the suspects remanded to prison is also suspected of providing terrorist training.

Altogether Finland’s National Bureau of Investigation suspect four men of terrorism crimes. A fourth man was identified Thursday in connection with the alleged crimes and was detained in absentia.

All of the suspects are alleged to have committed murder with terrorist intent. Two of them are believed to have provided training to commit terrorist crimes, while one is alleged to have engaged in recruiting others for the purpose of engaging in terrorist activity.

According to Yle at least two of the men are native Finns who converted to Islam.
