According to information obtained by the Oulu-based regional daily Koillissanomat, Argentine national football forward Lionel Messi has been enjoying a bit of downtime in Finland.
The paper reported Tuesday that Messi, who also plays for the Spanish football club FC Baracelona, arrived on a private plane in Kuusamo, northeast Finland.
On Tuesday Messi went on a dog-sledding excursion with his companions, which included his family. The guide on the husky tour said that the day had been a success.
"Friendly, pleasant and well-mannered," the guide said of the football idol.
Last Sunday, the football gods seemed to be against Messi when match officials apparently ignored a clear goal he scored in a game against Valencia. Barcelona ended the Spanish league fixture in a 1-1 draw with rivals Valencia.
Barca still leads the race for the La Liga title, and is four points clear of Valencia and eight ahead of both Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid.
Messi’s wife posted a photo of the family’s outing on Instagram on Tuesday.
