Norway-based budget airline Norwegian Air Shuttle has announced it will roll out regular flights between Helsinki and Vaasa, a city on Finland's west coast.

Currently, national flag carrier Finnair is the only airline that offers flights from Helsinki to Vaasa.

Flights on the route will depart on Mondays and Fridays and will commence in November, according to a Norwegian statement issued on Thursday.

Norwegian, which is Norway's biggest airline, said the Finnish market is important to the firm and that new Finnish domestic routes are part of the its network expansion plan.
