Halla-aho Complains to Prosecutor Over Threats

True Finn MP Jussi Halla-aho has asked the Deputy Prosecutor General, Jorma Kalske, to investigate threats he has received. Kalske has earlier said that threats against MPs are crimes against the state, and can therefore be investigated even if a complaint has not been made.

Halla-aho is a controversial figure who has emphasized criticism of immigration in his rise to prominence, and made use of online tools that bypass the mainstream media. Following the True Finns electoral gains, he is now the chair of the Finnish parliament’s Administration Committee, which handles issues related to immigration.

The Helsinki MP asked in his email whether Kalske intends to take action over threats made against True Finns, or whether his position had changed. According to Halla-Aho, some True Finns have even received death threats.

The Deputy Prosecutor General has not yet answered Halla-Aho’s message.
