The revived 1980s Finnish glam punk/hard rock band Hanoi Rocks has announced a break-up as soon as they have played their all planned concerts, the last in March 2009.
The two members of the original line-up , Michael Monroe and Andy McCoy, who revived the band in 2002 to complete "unfinished work", say that they have taken the Hanoi Rocks as far as possible and they wish to pursue their separate careers. The band first broke up in 1985.
Hanoi Rocks will play all of their scheduled 2008 engagements, including a Halloween night concert at London's Astoria club which kicks off a UK tour.
The band plans a farewell tour for Japanese fans next spring, to be followed by several consecutive evenings at Helsinki's Tavastia club where they got their start in the early 80s.
In late November, they will be releasing a double-CD retrospective of all the band's work, "This One's For Rock'n'Roll - The Best Of Hanoi Rocks 1980-2008".
