Kidnappers release Finn abducted in Kabul

A Finnish woman kidnapped in May by militants in Afghanistan has been freed, the Foreign Ministry announced on Thursday. The ministry said on Twitter that the woman is safe and her relatives have asked for their privacy to be respected.

A Finnish woman who was kidnapped in May has been freed. The Foreign Ministry announced the news on Twitter, saying that the woman is safe and her family have asked for their privacy to be respected.

The woman was taken hostage in Kabul, the Afghan capital, at the same time as a German colleague and an Afghan bodyguard were killed.

The woman was working as an aid worker for the Swedish Operation Mercy organisation.
