A 32-year-old man is being held on suspicion of attempting to commit three murders during a shooting incident in the Kamppi area of downtown Helsinki on Tuesday afternoon, according to police.
Authorities suspect the man fired several shots, targeting three people, at the intersection of Hietalahdenkatu and Porkkalankatu. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody shortly afterwards.
Two people sustained injuries and are still being treated in hospital. Police believe a third person was also targeted by the gunman, but was not hit by a bullet.
Police did not specify on Wednesday the nationalities of the victims or the suspect in the incident.

The victims' exact ages were not given by the police, but all three are believed to have been born in the 1990s.
"The shooting took place during peak hours in the centre of Helsinki and there were many other people and cars in the area, which posed a significant danger to others," said Jukka Larkio, Chief Investigator at the Helsinki Police Department.
Police said officers have not yet been able to interview the hospitalised victims, and that no further information is currently available.
