Lepistö held the lead after Friday's short program, and put in a near-perfect performance Saturday afternoon in the free skate, which was marred only by one faulty lutz. Second place winner Carolina Kostner, who took top points in Saturday's event.

For both Lepistö and Susanna Pöykiö, these were the second medals in the women's series. Last year Lepistö placed third in the European Figure Skating Championships and Pöykiö took a silver medal in 2005.
