The Finnish Maritime Administration has fired its Director of Maritime Safety after he was involved in a scuffle with a security guard.
Paavo Wihuri was dismissed by the administration's board following an incident last July when he refused to show his identity card to a security guard after working hours and shoved him out of his office.
Late last month, Helsinki District Court fined Wihuri 740 euros after finding him guilty of resisting authority.
The Maritime Administration board said on Wednesday that the conviction had diminished confidence in Wihuri. The 63-year-old was in charge of harbour and shipping safety in Finland.
