Midsummer is just around the corner, and the first forecasts for the summer celebration are looking gloomy.

The Finnish Meteorological Institute predicts temperatures will hover between 10–15 degrees next weekend.

”Temperatures will drop to ten degrees or below if it turns out to be cloudy, especially in the central and northern parts of the country,” reports meteorologist Juha Jantunen.

Midsummer’s eve on Friday is set to be the coldest, with temperatures staying below 15 throughout the country. In Lapland, mercury will stay at 7-8 degrees for the entire summer solstice weekend.

Luckily, heavy rains are not on the horizon.

”Midsummer Sunday should bring warmer weather of about 15–16 degrees to southern and central parts of the country. However, a low pressure area will arrive in the south, meaning proper spells of rain instead of light showers,” Jantunen says.
