Sixty-two percent of those polled had a strong aversion to the idea. They felt that rebuilding Karelia's economy and infrastructure would be too expensive.
Less than a third wanted the territory back. Those the most in favour of re-patriating the territory were young adults and teenagers, as well as people with family ties to Karelia. More than a thousand people over the age of 15 were surveyed for the poll.
The question of Karelia's return is only theoretical - neither the Finnish nor Russian governments have made any suggestion that this could happen.
