The Administrative Council will deal with matters such as the possible contraction or expansion of YLE operations, and will also ensure that the organisation discharges its duty as a public broadcaster.

The new Administrative Council will be led by SDP MP Ilkka Kantola. Of the other 21 members, three are former YLE employees. They are True Finns MP Maria Tolppanen, Silvia Modig of the Left Alliance and Jaana Pelkonen of the National Coalition Party.
