Nokia’s Lumia 800 was in particularly high demand in December, according to the teleoperators' sales statistics.
However the operators say that Apple’s iPhone came in a close second in the battle for a share of consumers’ wallets.
Sonera reported that its most popular phones in December were the Lumia 800, Apple’s iPhone 5 and the Lumia 920.
Over at Elisa, individual customers were most switched on to the iPhone 5 and the Lumia models.
For relative newcomer DNA Finland, customers hankered after the Samsung Galaxy Y and Nokia’s new flagship Lumia phones most.
However sales figures for the entire year showed the Lumia 800 leading turnover for both of the major operators, while the iPhone 5 topped the sales list at DNA.
Other fast movers for the operators were Samsung’s sleek Galaxy models and the iPhone 4S.
The operators said that smartphone sales were especially strong in December, boosted by seasonal and end-of-year sales campaigns.
