Finnish government officials will be travelling on budget airline Norwegian a lot more than they have been. As a result of a procurement process the company is now the preferred provider of flights to London, Paris, Barcelona, Rome, Prague, Madrid and Budapest.

That is in addition to Oslo, Copenhagen and Rovaniemi, the destinations for which Norwegian was already the Finnish government’s number one airline. The other airlines to win contracts are Finnair, Flybe Finland and SAS.

The new procurement was run by the Hansel consultancy, and the contract period runs in 2015 and 2016. The criteria were price, number of flights and the timetable.
