OP Bank Customers Targeted by Fraudsters

Finland?s OP Bank has warned its internet banking customers not to respond to an e-mail message sent in an apparent attempt to gain access to private bank accounts.

The Communications Regulatory Authority has confirmed reports of an English-language e-mail with the hallmarks of an attempt at bank fraud.

According to the Authority, the message urges recipients to follow links in the message and to provide the OP customer's user codes and passwords.

OP Bank urges customers to ignore the message, adding that banks never send their customers e-mail messages urging them to log on to a web site.

The message is similar to one involving Nordea Bank.
