Opposition Considers Parliamentary Interpellation

Opposition leaders are considering calling for an interpellation during Friday's parliamentary session.

Opposition leader and SDP Chair Eero Heinäluoma wants to call on government to explain its position on compensation for nurses.

On the YLE current affairs program A-talk, Social Democrat MP Kimmo Kiljunen said the opposition has also considered calling for an interpellation in relation to comments made on Russia by Defense Minister Jyri Häkämies.

Last week in Washington, Häkämies told the Centre for Strategic and International Studies that Russia is Finland's most important security policy challenge.

Following a chorus of disapproval for the statement, the Defense Minister later denied trying to frighten anyone about Russia.
