Paper: Andorran court rejects Janitskin extradition

The tabloid Iltalehti reported Tuesday that a court in Andorra has rejected a request for the extradition of anti-immigrant agitator Ilja Janitskin. Janitskin faces dozens of criminal charges in Finland related to a nationalist propaganda site which he founded.

Last year a Finnish court remanded Janitskin in custody in absentia and he was taken into custody late last summer by Interpol authorities in Andorra at the request of Finnish officials.

Janitskin is suspected of having committed some 50 criminal violations in connection with the anti-immigration propaganda site MV-Lehti that he founded. He faces charges in Finland of inciting hatred against an ethnic group, and defamation, among other offenses.

According to a Tuesday report in Iltalehti, a court in Andorra has rejected a request for the extradition of Janitskin, but Finnish authorities have 15 days to appeal the decision.
